An Iconic Situation

Yes I know, Its been months since my last update. I am slack but I have been rather, well lets say busy. Since my knee has returned to 95% functionality I have resumed my 'crewing' duties with Iconic Legion. The Legion is a Costuming group that raises money for Charity, specifically for Chesnut Tree house and Dogs Trust. Events are attended by characters for Star Wars, Doctor Who, Star Trek. We have Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, Zombies, Batman Characters and much more. The group is certainly growing in both numbers and strength. We attended London Film Comic Con (LFCC for short, and easier to type) and made I would say, a rather large impact. This was a combination of our fabulous costumers and Dale's impressive TARDIS we managed to cause many a bottleneck for picture opportunities. We also managed to stop traffic outside Olympia while people clambered to get pictures of Batman, Batgirl, Cybermen standing next to the 1960's Batmobile.
We have also attended Dogs Trust Charity events, Cherished Memories in Dartford as well as many others. The Olympic Torch in Arundel was a huge success raising a lot of money. This was an extremely wet and miserable day but, people dug deep in their pockets and gave us £908.50 to add to our total.. So happy with this. We even managed to slow down a couple of the buses/floats so people could take pictures of our group. We do like causing congenstion ;) This weekend it was the O2 in London and Crawley Cineworld. I had the Saturday off and missed our terrific Bane who, according to some people is Huge! I did however, get to meet the lovely Catwoman on Sunday who is certainly a crowd gatherer with people queuing for photos. It was funny, guys got their pictures taken with Batman as their wives/girlfriends approved. If anyone mentioned would they like a picture of them with Catwoman alone the disapproving looks from the GF/Wives said it all.
The whole weekend managed to raise a further £343.65 for Chesnut Tree house childrens charity. A target of £8,000 was set for 2012 and with only 5 months to go, we are just short of £7,000. Personally I think this a fantastic achievement and am proud to be part of Iconic. I have met so many fantastic and fabulous people that I am glad to call my friends. We are one big happy family as they say.

Everything seems bigger from Washington

So here am i, on my return journey from Phoenix. My departing plane was an hour late in arriving due to a security threat in San Fran which caused.entire airport to shut. My plane was then 20 mins late in arriving in DC which gave me a grand total of 10 mins to get to my international flight. As luck would have it my plane arrived opposite my departure gate so it was literally off one plane straight on another. Boy i need the loo. And on another note only turbulence was above Denver and SLC lol.
So anyway, bigger, better as in the subject. I currently have a row of three seats to myself no, one in front. No one behind. The entertainment system is all touch screen and i was having a quick look. Around 150 movies alone all in categories. New releases, classics, sci fi etc etc. So i have films ranging from Chronicle which is New to Sherlock Holmes 2, all the Batman films, The Immortals, Disney etc etc. There are about 50 tv programmes, audiobooks, a cooking channel, kids, games etc etc you get the idea.
Dinner smells good i wonder what it is. This May be one of these blogs that keep getting added to. As before if i fall into the sea, personal belongings to be distributed as before, which except of Amanda EE has claimed the Dvds for herself.
So as i said, progressive blog.  I opted for Chicken and rice to go with Happy Feet 2. I was dancing in my seat to that one. After dinner coffee was accompanied with Sherlock Holmes 2 and then rounded up wit Immortals as you can over have enough Henry Cavill.

So home now, met so many fabulous people whilst away. Now back to normality to which many of you know i am not ;-)

Till next time keep smiling

Poolside aaaaaah

So been busy day in Arizona. Woke up 5am as found i had put the heater on in my room and not the AC. Lets just say i was dehydrated and not very well. Breakfast was nice, well the first time round. Went to the local Mc Donalds for tea and the smell made me feel worse. Then went to Walgreens and spent good hour in there. My American friends do love their shopping as spent further two hours in Walmart. Bought oodles of chocolate, root beer and a.cool cup. Then came back to hotel and it was decided lunch was in order so, as now there were at least 5 more people turned up got in separate cars and went t Garcias Mexican.  Had a very nicechicken and avocado salad in a tacos shell.
When the director arrived the cocktails appeared. I had a pina colda minus the cream, very refreshing.
So back inthe hotel now, some people have gone to bed, others have gone snack shopping so i opted by sitting by the pool with my rootbeer.
Bliss. Shame the meetings start at 9am tomorrow
OMG my first road runner, want it to go meep meep

Update part 2

Landed in Chicago 1 hour early. Hurra i thought i can make my connection. Alas not. 1 booth open. 3 hours later got though immigration and missed flight and got booked in new flight. Just enough time for a Starbucks caramel  macciato and a McDonalds whooper. I heard the are healthier in the States. Jill from work picking me up at airport then straight to Tacos Bell.

God bless American

On side note, the navy is in town. Muscular tattooed arms galore and not i can't take pictures!

Blogging from a United airways plane

Well here i am 36015 feet above Iceland, outside temperature is -60c and i have approx 4 hrs 24 mins to go before i hit Chicago. I then have about an hour and 20 Mins to clear customs, do immigration. Collect bags. Re check bags. Change terminal and go back through security again. What fun!
I have been in the air for about 4 hours and it has been ok. Well up to this point but more about that later. Breakfast was served 20 mins after takeoff. I opted for the waffles and bacon option rather than the bacon and egg option. I wish someone hadn't had eggs. I think Guffy McGuff pants is sitting nearby, someone open a window please. Oh you can't in fear them being sucked out. Your point is?!?!!? It wasn't actually bad. One waffle with some congelled sweet syrup covering a slice of bacon/ham. Roll with marmalade, fruit salad complete.with core and pips, a strawberry yoghurt and i opted.for tea. Just as i was about to get my semi stewed nectar we hit turbulence so the whole service had to be postponed as the cabin crew had to sit on their bottoms as well. Here was me with said trolley parked up beside me and i could even have my cuppa. boo. Once turbulence stopped and tea slurped i thought i would settle down to my inflight entertainment, I was really looking forward to these films. Sherlock Holmes 2, Mission Impossible 50001 (whatever number it is now), The Artist and The Muppets. I love me some Muppets (I've been out with enough of them). Switched on my 8 channels of luxury. OK, my Weekend with Marilyn (saw that last week, keep scanning); Woman in Black (Saw that recently as well, keep scanning); Lady and The Tramp!!!! That's not even recent. I therefore thought, as they have have started Mays viewing on April 29th i would save Woman in Black for return flight. I opted for an episode of a TV series starring Debra Messing of Will and Grace fame about writing a musical Miss.Monroe. How terribly gay, two things about Marilyn on the same flight. I then decided to have my dose of The Big Bang Theory, young justice and Thundercats. As i am typing this it is extremely bumpy and turbulent. If the plane plummets from the sky and someone finds this in the sea. my Dr Who music goes to Amanda EE, my doctor who collection split between Dale and Andy, Greg and Stevie B, my xbox stuff to Layla and my cook books to be given to the needy. Failing that the sea water will damage this beyond repair and you would never know.
I mant my snacks. In the words of Patsy Stone. OI PEANUTS! !
So what happened 4 hours into my journey i hear you ask. Oh you didn't, well tough i'm going to tell anyway.
Seats strategically booked. Seat of three on right hand side so i can stretch my knee.Nothing in front, nothing behind nothing to the side. BLISS. Until now! The fattest man on the plane decides to sit directly in front of me so his son/daughter (im really not sure) can sprawl out on three seats.  After trying to get himself comfortable by pushing back on the chair WHILE KNEELING ON IT. Decided it was broken enough as my tray was now sitting at precarious angle of about 30 degrees he would put the chair back, way back. Back further than it has ever been before in fact it cracked it went that fair back. So far back it was practically the middle ages!. "Oh wait is that's far back as it goes" he says. Erm, that would be a yes as i am very nearly sitting with knees by my chest. I have nothing against fat people as i to am part of the Who Ate All the Pies brigade but that's just rude!. Bouncing.against my.already sore knee isn't going to help. So i move into the middle seat to try and get the remainder flight with some leg room. Getting everything out ofthe pocket on my old seat by pinging the holder like a pair of over used braces. TWANG! Oh i could slide across seats. I think not. Grabbed the back of his seat to pull myself up and leggo. PADOING goes the chair with such force his glasses fell off. "oh sorry, I needed to move as I suddenly seem.to have run out of leg room"

Sweetie don't even try to out bitch me.
Now flying over Canada.only.one thing to say...OI PEANUTS!!!!

Ta Ta fo
Update. Still no sodding nuts however, 1 hour from landing and have been given cheese and ham roll,  salted crisp and a single twixt. School trip packed.lunches are not dead

So..What now!

My last blog all these months ago, I said I would set some challenges... Do you know what.. I can't be bothered ;-)

That seems to be me in general the last couple of months.  I have the motivation aspiration of a squashed frog! Maybe the first challenge is to motivate myself.  Now where did I put that Paul McKenna CD.  Since we last spoke, well I type, you read (or not and I may just be talking to myself) I have had the long awaited operation on my knee.  I can't use that as an excuse not to exercise anymore however, it falls back into the motivational mindset.  I probably have not said it enough but I am so thankful for all my friends that rallied around to make sure I was OK afterwards.. It was very much appreicated :-)  I do feel that I have let some friendships slide though.  This is not intentional, and I shall try and make a bigger effort.

My weekends, as one of my friends pointed out seems to be dominated by housework.  It is not that I live in a messy flat, it just keeps me occupied.  Trying to find things to occupy myself is not easy.  I like it when friends and I meet up for coffee and a chat, it makes me feel like part of society.  I have even seem to have lost the ability to cook at a weekend as I used to.

Even Firework from Katy Perry made me well up.  I have never watched the video before, or actually listened to the words.  I'm so sad haha!!  If you haven't seen it.. Here it is

This motivational thing is a bugger!!!

To cheer myself up, here is a nice picture of Mr Hemsworth!

Till next time

Expulsion of the Old!

This isn't as bad as it sounds. I am not expelling people that I have known for a while nor am I going on a geriatric rampage. I am purely de-cluttering.  So far today I have managed to bag up 4 bags of clothes and 2 bags of bedding.  When I say bag it is more of a sack and they are heavy... Very heavy... Carting them off to the charity shops will certainly aid in my quest for the ever improved arms.  I am going for the arms of one of the below.

OK, didn't mean to fully take inspiration from Twilight actors that is just the way it happened.  Saying that, if I went the whole hog the chest and thighs of Ben Cohen wouldn't go a miss either

Anyway, side tracked, only I can link in sexy men with de-cluttering of a wardrobe!

Today clothes and bedding, tomorrow CD and DVD's.  I will see if the little music magpie will take any.  I may get a whole 50p back.

What else has been happening in my life in the past week.  Well, no smokes, cut down coffee to about 1 cup a day.. Sometimes I have none and them I also have the every depressing diet.  Believe me I am like a bear with a sore head.  I am starting to think that maybe the diet isn't the way to go.  If I want muscle mass etc I think the exercise needs to improve not cut down on the amount I eat.  As my knee is still knackered running is still out.  The problem with a knee without it's own shock absorber is that it is very difficult to do any exercises that require bending of the knee.  Maybe I will become top heavy and one of these people that walk around like a Neanderthal that can't put his arms by his side.  I have to get something done before my trip to Estonia in July...

Aaaaaaaaanywho, I have had a sufficient rest and now will get back to the clutter obliteration.   Next blog I feel a set of challenges coming on...

Till then

It's about time

Hello soldier! How goes the war?

I thought since I haven't updated this since..... oh about July it was about time I did.  Funny thing, nothing spectacular has actually happened to me in all this time.  I've been to Estonia which was amazing, I've had a birthday, a Christmas and survived another New Year.  Apart from that, nothing. Still single, still moaning and still need to do more exercise.  I am finding that the Xbox Kinect is actually great fun to keep one fit and some of the games are hysterically funny.  Problem is it works both ways.  Now, with enhanced voice features you don't even need to get off the sofa to get the remote.  Everything can be voice activated.  Now to get me a nice houseboy to wheel me around I need never move again.

New Year, new phone.  I am quite excited about receiving my new Windows 7 phone tomorrow.  A nice Nokia Lumia 800.  Whilst I do love the iPhone, I fancied a change and I do like Nokia.

I am sure after 24 months I will want the all new all singing and dancing iPhone but for now I am happy.

So what does 2012 mean for me.  Well a couple of things.  I don't make New Year resolutions anymore (with the exception of 1, that the participant of will know about).  What is the point in setting yourself up for a fall.  How many people actually manage to keep to their resolutions throughout the year?  I am not going to set myself up for disappointment and upset this year so will do things as and when I feel it is right.  This is not me being a defeatest, more of a realist.

So things to look forward to and to try and do:
  • Visit my very good friend in Estonia at least twice this year
  • Go on holiday for a trip round Wales with fantastic friends
  • Meet up with a load of people met through Facebook.  Cracking fellows all of them
  • Partake in more Spook hunts. (very nearly typed Spock hunts then)
  • Drink less coffee (this will be a killer)
  • Use the Xbox Kinect as more of a fitness tool and not a voice activated remote.
  • Blog/Vlog more

There are probably many other things to say and do but baby steps.

So for the moment I am going to sign off and dream of hairy chested men and romance.

Adios  y'all
